Earlier this year CLB and I decided it was about time for some winter sun and thought Marrakech would be a good destination. Despite the weather turning from 30c to 20c just days before our arrival we still had a wonderful near-week.
As always I took to the internet to research and narrow down our accommodation choices. CLB agreed with me that Villa Makassar looked like the best option. And we weren’t disappointed; as soon as we arrived at the airport and were met by our private transfer we knew we were in for a good week so headed to the hotel with positive vibes. On arrival we were welcomed with traditional Moroccan tea and told about excursions available before given a tour of the hotel and finally being shown to our room – what a welcome. The hotels style is art deco and they’ve done it so well.
Our room was compact but cosy and had everything we needed for a four night stay including a large shower and bath robes, both of which are a thumbs up from me. There were also fresh rose petals all over the bed on arrival…its the little touches eh!
The hotel staff could not have been friendlier and were so attentive to our every need, nothing was too much, even breakfast in bed which was no extra charge. They also arranged all our tours and the providers were all great – more about that to follow in another post.
We tested out the Hammam/Sauna and the Jacuzzi plus I had a facial and a massage in the spa, all of which were lovely.
On our final night we opted to dine in the hotel restaurant, and the food was superb (as was the wine) of course topped off with wonderful service from the hotel staff.
We’d love to return to Villa Makassar in the summer months when we can make more use of the roof terrace and sun beds!
