Surprise Break – Needham House Hotel

This summer CLB sneakily booked a night away (via Secret Escapes) at a newly renovated hotel in Hertfordshire, now known as Needham House Hotel for a night of R&R. Here’s what went down at this fab little find…

The deal was for an Executive Room including breakfast and a 10% discount off food and drinks plus  bottle of prosecco in the room on arrival – sweeeet!

The rooms are huge; spacious and airy with a comfy bed and interactive TV. Sadly we weren’t blessed with a bath but the rainfall shower was good nonetheless.

First on the agenda was to pay a visit to the spa where I was booked in for the Spa Trio – a back, shoulder and neck massage, facial and manicure followed by a cream tea. All of which were great apart from the manicure which sadly didn’t last particularly long, and I didn’t wholly appreciate the sales pitch of the products but understand that sadly this is often the way with a lot of beauty spas these days. The spa centre had great facilities, just missing an outdoor hot tub and/or indoor pool which would complement the hotel nicely.

Spa time was followed by relaxing in our room, popping open the complimentary bubbles and getting ready for dinner at the in-house restaurant SG4 Brasserie. The food was fantastic, good healthy portion sizes and a great wine list. We retired to the bar for a delicious gin or two – I highly recommend the (very large!) Hendricks with Fever Tree Elderflower tonic!

The only downside of the living quarters is the hallway is wooden floored which means you can hear everyone and everything when people leave their rooms / make their way to their rooms after (too) many drinks…!

The following morning we decided to pay the tray charge and have our breakfast in bed; one continental and one English breakfast between us – there was so much food so I’m glad we didn’t choose an English each!

I must say top marks to whomever works in recruitment, the staff was all excellent, from reception to the spa, and the restaurant, never have I been to a hotel where everyone was so friendly and helpful! All in all a wonderful stay and I hope to return in the future and would definitely recommend it to others.

Post check out we made our way to the local riding centre, Ickleford Equestrian Centre, where I had a 30minute private lesson – I love riding so any chance I get and I’m game 🙂

What a wonderful surprise break away, I highly recommend checking out Secret Escapes for their awesome deals.
