Richmond Break

With the Christmas break a distant memory and our next weekend away not until May CLB and I decided that a night away would be a great start to Spring. We knew we didn’t want to travel too far from London and so when we came across a deal in Richmond via Secret Escapes we knew it would be perfect – cue immediate thoughts of walking past deer in Richmond Park and a dreamy luncheon surrounded by flowers and foliage at Petersham Nurseries.

The Richmond Gate Hotel was our chosen destination and our deal included:

The room was compact but absolutely fine for a one night stay; the bed was comfy and the shower pretty powerful – the only two things that really matter.

As we both headed straight from work we opted for the latest dining slot which gave us time for a quick freshen up and outfit change whilst sipping a G&T before we headed to the conservatory for dinner. I had a mozzarella and avocado starter followed by sea bass and of course finished off with none other than chocolate brownie. Post dinner we retired to the bar for another glass of Malbec before bed.

In the morning we took breakfast in our room swiftly followed by a trip to the on site health club – Cedars – for a quick dip in the hydrotherapy pool and a bake in the sauna before checking out and heading across the road for a nice long leisurely walk in Richmond Park. We were luckily enough not to only spot deer but also horses, birds, and about a thousand dogs out on their daily strolls!

We were booked in for a late lunch at Petersham Nurseries Cafe which had got to be the most beautiful place I have ever eaten. The food, the decor, the service and most importantly the prosecco (!) were all spot on and I can’t wait to return here again ASAP!

We might live in London but are miles and miles away from Richmond so Friday really felt like a mini staycation and we couldn’t have been happier with the way our weekend started 🙂
