A Surrey Bank Holiday – The Talbot Inn

It isn’t often that CLB and I have scarcely any weekend plans, and when we saw the weather was going to be tip top for the Spring Bank Holiday I just knew it was a chance to escape the city for some greenery. Thankfully I had accrued enough nights on hotels.com that I had a reward night so who isn’t going to take that opportunity!

I left it in CLB’s capable hands to pick the destination for our Sunday Night excursion and he’d picked the The Talbot Inn in Ripley, Surrey. Before we made our way to the hotel we spent a couple of hours wandering around Bushey Park to see the deer, ducks and dogs 😀

Check in was super quick and we were allocated a room in the converted stable block, which meant we were on ground floor but that didn’t really bother us as the area seemed super quiet.

Overall the room was nice, being fairly spacious with a shower room and had all the usual amenities…tea/coffee, toiletries, TV etc. The bed I must say was rather small and far too soft for me so I didn’t sleep overly well.

We ate dinner in the hotel bar and sampled their fabulous gin (and wine!) menu. The food was great…I opted for a burger followed by a chocolate brownie (for once I shared it too!)

On the Bank Holiday Monday we took a wander in nearby Guildford before the rain hit then it was home time. (Almost) spontaneous trips are kind of an unknown as you can’t plan too much but I think we should all do them more often, as this one was great!

Yeah. Spontaneity often brings surprises. Glad you enjoyed it despite the rain!
