Some much needed R&R was recently in order so after scouring the internet for Sunday deals I came across a spa break at the Crowne Plaza Battersea which offers a Sunday Spa Saver. This deal includes bed and breakfast, a 25min treatment per person at the in-house Spa Verta and 25% of food and beverage for a very, very reasonable £135.
As the deal was booked so last minute I must admit I didn’t really get a chance to research the local area, but this didn’t matter because the whole reason for the night away was to relax and not leave the premises. As such on arrival I was little shocked to see we were next to the London Heliport, but with the hotels quadruple glazing you couldn’t hear anything so alllll good!
Our room was lovely and actually better than I thought it would be, not quite sure what I was expecting but to be greeted with a huge bed, welcoming bathroom complete with ESPA products plus a sleeping kit and river views was just what the doctor had ordered.
Not long after arrival it was time for our treatments, an express facial pour moi and a back, neck and shoulder massage for CLB. The facial was fantastic and I could probably say the best I’ve had in recent years. I hear the massage was good too!
Post treatments we headed downstairs to make use of the hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, sanarium, foot spa, rainfall showers and foot baths. The whole space was idylic and not particularly busy which suited us perfectly. Just before we left we chilled out in the quiet area and had a cuppa of tasty Tea Pigs 🙌🏻
Back up in the room I opted for a bath – I don’t have them often as we only have a shower at home so I always take advantage when staying away – before we took a short trip to The PAD Restaurant and Bar for a drink whilst watching helicopters come and go – great entertainment and people watching (my fav “hobby”) in my opinion! In fact on this particular Sunday Lewis Hamilton had just won the Silverstone Grand Prix and flew back to London in a helicopter; pretty good celeb spot in my book 😁
With wanting to relax as much as possible we opted to take dinner in our room cosied up in our giant bed whilst watching the incredible The Handmaids Tale which we both totally love!
Now, had we not been a working day on Monday we would have most likely opted for breakfast in bed, the norm for us when in a hotel! However as we had to be in our respective offices for 0930 we took the opportunity to sit in the dining room and scoff down all the yummy breakfast options.
And that was it, suddenly it was over but the past 18 hours had been just as idylic as we required and then some. All of the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and professional and really made us feel welcome.
Now comes the tricky part, to convince CLB we need to do this every Sunday…
