At the end of last year I was treated to a birthday weekend courtesy of a best friend; it was delightful!
I was told to get the 10:09 from London Waterloo to Micheldever where she would meet me; I love a surprise and this was the perfect start to a fabulous weekend…
On leaving the station I spotted the Bombay Sapphire bus and the first activity of the weekend was revealed; a tour around the distillery – those who know me know I love a gin (or five) so this surprise rocked!
We had tickets for The Self-Discovery Experience where you are given an interactive map and work your way around Laverstock Mill in your own time, followed by a guided tour through the Still House before ending up in the Mill Bar for a complimentary cocktail. What a great way to celebrate turning 30 and so very ‘me’, I’d highly recommend it to other gin lovers.
Next up we made our way to Southampton for a chill and change of clothes before heading to the newly renovated Westquay area which now houses a bundle of good restaurants plus a skating rink and a ski lodge style bar for the winter period.
Next stop was The Pig in the Wall, one of my favourite bars in Southampton, it is so cosy with the fire in the winter and their wine selection is pretty darn good.
Come Sunday and the next surprise is a Lava Shell massage at the Harspa at the Harbour Hotel. I’d not had a lava shell massage before and was pleasantly surprised, it was great!. Afterwards I joined my friend lounging by the pool before a quick hot tub, sauna and steam. Once we were dried off and before I set off back to London we headed to the sixth floor for a hot chocolate in the bar.
I had the most delightful weekend, full of girl time and surprises. I wonder if turning 31 will be this good?!
