A Weekend in Gdańsk

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Poland for the first time, and more specifically spending a weekend in Gdańsk and Gdynia for a destination wedding.

The wedding venue was the beautiful Quadrille in Gdynia which is also where we were staying for the weekend. The whole place is incredibly well thought out, there is even a tunnel leading from the main house to the spa (no-one like walking around outside in their robes and slippers pre-dip!).

Our room in the Mansion was small but perfectly formed, and just right for the two of us to lay our heads.

On our first night we ventured into Gdańsk for a welcome dinner at Restauracja Cała Naprzód, which is along the waterfront and has some beautiful views.

The next day was the wedding day but as it didn’t start until 4pm I ventured to the spa for a 90min full body massage which was simply heavenly! Following that I relaxed by the pool before heading back to our room, named Charles Darwin, to order room service whilst getting ready for the event. The wedding was outside, and followed by a tasting menu and dancing until the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Sunday came around quickly and after a delayed start to the day (absolutely nothing to do with the 4am bed time, I promise 😜) we checked out and headed into Gdańsk. After dropping off our case at the luggage hold in the station, we spent the afternoon eating lunch at Ristorante La Cucina and mooching around the incredibly beautiful town. I actually couldn’t believe how pretty some of the buildings were, for some reason I didn’t expect incredible architecture but I was oh so wrong.

For a first trip to Poland, it was wonderful and I look forward to returning to the country in future.
