I’ve been thinking about doing a piece about my favourite places for a while and so whilst I’m between trips here are my Top 5 Destinations that I’ve been to so far in my 30yrs of life. My goodness it was hard to narrow this list down to just five, as I don’t think I’ve really ever disliked anywhere I’ve traveled to, and most places I go I seem to fall in love with!
I’ve not been to Croatia for years but it really is one of my favourite places to go, there is so much to see and do, the locals are ever so friendly and the seafood is wonderfully fresh. To date I’ve visited Zadar, Biograd, Split, Bol, Hvar, Zagreb and Dubrovnik, and on my next adventure in the country Pula and Rovinj are on my list.
I have visited Amsterdam twice and still haven’t seen and done everything on offer there. It really feels like one of my happy places and a city I fall in love with it a little more each time I visit. With museums and history galore, bike tours, varieties of restaurants and the friendly locals, what else does a European city need to offer?
3. HONG KONG
If you are after a cosmopolitan city with amazing architecture, incredible views and totally awesome food then Hong Kong is your destination! I loved HK and really feel like it’s one of those places I could live and never get bored of. It is hot and very humid but that means you slow down and really take it in the experiences on offer at a relaxed pace, which when you are visiting from somewhere like London is much appreciated.
2. SAN FRANCISCO
Coming in at number two is my favourite US city (although I have only been to two so far!), San Francisco. As far as travel destinations go it has everything; great excursions, a vast amount of good restaurants, lots of green spaces plus a famous prison and you all know I like a good prison! There is so much to see, do, eat and drink not only within San Francisco but also nearby; Napa Valley and Yosemite National Park are great day/weekend trips.
1. SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa taking the top spot may have a lot to do with it being our honeymoon destination and therefore being on cloud 9 for the week we spent exploring Cape Town and on safari. I’ve said to anyone who has asked about the trip that if they go anywhere in life it must be on a safari, it really is the most magical experience and one that you would never forget. If you do head to SA, make your first stop Cape Town as there is so much to do there including the magnificent Table Mountain and adorable Boulders Beach (who can resist a penguin?) and so many amazing restaurants too; Codfather and La Colombe to name just a couple. I’m dying to go back the the country as I’d love to drive from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth along the Garden Route then fly up to a reserve for another safari.
Have you been to any one these place? What would you say your top 5 are?
