We decided to rent an Airbnb in Rio de Janeiro as we were five adults and two children and its much more cost effective and sociable when traveling in a group. Our search was extensive as there are hundreds of properties in Rio and the search begun months in advance as I was well aware it’d be a popular destinations for New Year. In the end we came across P COPACABANA 4 QUARTOS hosted by the lovely Maria Ines, this is the lowdown on our stay…
The apartment has a double ensuite, another double, a single ensuite and a day room which converts into a bedroom (ideal for children) plus a family bathroom, kitchen and large lounge/diner so fitted our group perfectly. The kitchen was very well equipped with all the crockery, utensils and glassware you’d need plus a coffee machine. Every bedroom room plus the living room had its own aircon unit, which was a must for us as we were in Rio at the height of summer. Wi-Fi access was complimentary which was handy when we wanted to Facetime relatives on New Years Day, and the real bonus was having the washing machine, we were very grateful for its presence!
As is the norm in Rio our apartment block was gated and had 24hr security who let you in and out, which is handy as it means you don’t need to learn any codes or carry any additional keys around with you. The block had two lifts, each going to one of the two entrances in the property. There is a rubbish chute in the hallway which my nieces seemed amused by, and a place to wash your feet post beach to ensure you don’t traipse sand about the place.
Located on Rua Pompeu Loureiro, a cab ride for the airports but just a short 10 minute walk from Copacabana Beach this property was perfect for us, quiet enough at nighttime but to have local shops, bars and restaurants a three minute walk away was perfect.
