After checking out of our Airbnb, we wanted to chill out before moving onto Iguazu Falls two days later. Therefore, we decided to stay two nights in the Pestana Rio Atlântica hotel for the last part of our week in Rio. The 4* hotel is located on Avenida Atlântica opposite Copacabana beach and is within walking distance of many of the local attractions, restaurants, and of course the sea!
Unfortunately we arrived a little too early for check in so left our bags with reception and headed to the top floor to check out the roof top pool and grab a bite to eat. The rooftop swimming pool is the best part of the hotel and partly why we booked this particular accommodation for our final two nights, I just knew that after five days of exploring we’d want to kick back and soak up the sun on a lounger (tip: loungers are like gold dust so get up early to bag one!).
When we finally dragged ourselves away from the pool we checked into our double side sea view room, and the lovely receptionist upgraded to a higher floor with better views, bonus! Featuring a king size bed, shower room and a small balcony our room was set up with everything we needed. We had a buffet breakfast included in our room rate (booked via hotels.com) which was fairly basic, but absolutely fine for our needs.
If you’re looking for a well located hotel with a rooftop pool then Pestana Rio Atlântica is certainly a good option, and if you like a cocktail and a dance then the Deck Bar’s weekend parties will surely be near the top of your list.
