My sister had her 40th birthday recently, and several months previous we decided that we should go away as as family and celebrate by spending a weekend in Deal. As de facto host for the weekend, the first priority was finding somewhere to stay!
We decided as a family to stay at 17 Farrier Street, a three storey five bedroom town house just moments from the sea. Perfect for our group of 10 the house has a living space, a dining room, large and well equipped kitchen, and a garden complete with a BBQ which is great for summer evenings. One of the bedrooms has an ensuite shower room, and there was a separate shower room and a family bathroom.
Located in Kent, Deal is a seaside town which is increasingly in popularity due to it’s fairly quick connections to London (1hr 30mins), meaning you can spend the week in the city and the weekend by the sea which is perfect for some.
But for us, we chose it due to not only it’s seaside location but also it’s proximity to Leeds Castle, the fact that it was by the sea, and also that it wasn’t a million miles from my family members.
The seaside is one of the main attractions of Deal, alongside the pier and Deal Castle.
We decided that we’d go to Leeds Castle during our visit for the annual Medieval Jousting Tournament. Having been the previous year I knew that my nieces would love it so it quickly became the activity of choice.
Also during our stay was the Deal Classic Motor Show featuring a huge range of vehicles both old and new for (mainly my brother) people to enjoy.
The town is also enjoyable to walk around, with boutique shops, independent cafes, friendly bars and welcoming pubs, giving this place a great vibe.
As we had a BBQ at the property we decided on our first night to fire that up. Then for the night of my sisters birthday we chose 81 Beach Street for a slap up yet relaxed meal. As it was the bank holiday we had a final night where we picked up fish and chips, it’d be rude not to at the seaside, right?
