A Mondrian Surprise!
I don’t even know where to start with this one! Last month CLB surprised me with a night at the Mondrian in our home city of London. Being the secret squirrel he is, he’d booked a suite with our own private balcony looking out over the Thames, where he proposed that evening – it couldn’t have been more perfect!
Sorry sorry sorry, I’ll stop gushing now and tell you about the hotel!
In a nutshell, it was spot on. The suite was extremely spacious; there was a dining area, lounge area, a bar and of course THE BED – comfy as anything. The bathroom had a free standing bath too which is always a thumbs up from me (cue soaking in the tub shot)…
I was also treated to the Booster 2 Package in the Agua Bathhouse and Spa, comprising of a facial and a back and shoulder massage. I can honestly say the facial was the best to date, and I’ve had a few!
Food wise I’d recommend the Lobster Brioche along with a bottle (or two) of champagne from the Sea Containers restaurant. The icing on the cake was after a wee visit to the Rumpus Room for, yet another, glass of bubbly we arrived back to a letter stating we had until 2pm to check out the following morning – glorious. Therefore in the AM we just knew we should test out the room service and enjoy our final few hours on the balcony chomping away on Eggs Benny/Royale and taking in the views.
On a final note, the staff could not have been more fantastic from the front of house team through to the restaurant waiters. Here’s hoping we’ll be back one day for an anniversary stay!
Top Tip: If you can stretch your pennies and book the River View Balcony Suite you will not be disappointed.
