Hotel Indigo Cardiff

When I visited Cardiff recently to catch up with friends I picked Hotel Indigo to lay my head, as it was extremely well located in the centre of town, and was available for a very reasonable price. Being the new hotel on the block, I had a feeling it would still have the sparkle that a newly opened hotel always possesses and I was right 😀 No chipped paint in this establishment, and super friendly staff (although that is probably just a Welsh thing), and little touches such complimentary choccies.

Hotel Indigo are owned by the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) and are a set of boutique hotels which are sophisticated, stylish and a home away from home offering more than the corporate look that other IHG properties (such as Holiday Inn) offer. The Cardiff branch is located in the newly renovated Dominion Arcade building and being slap bang in the centre of Queen Street offer guests the chance to see Cardiff from their door step.

The theme of the hotel is Welsh and you can spot this as soon as you enter, from the lobby cushions to the reception decor and this carries on through to the rooms.

We opted for a Standard Queen room which came with a shower room (no bath sadly, I don’t think any of the room have them mind) and views down onto Queen Street. The decor is different in each room, and boy was I glad when I saw we had a rocking chair complete with a foot stall and a ‘bore da’ (‘good morning’ in Welsh) cushion. The room felt truly complete once I opened the wardrobe to find robes and slippers.
