Reminiscing: Valentines

With Valentines Day 2017 fast approaching I’ve been looking back at a couple of previous ‘Hallmark Holidays’ and the fun times had, and wanted to share them..

2015

V.Day was kicked off with a Couples Massage at Thai Spa Village in Wimbledon. I then sporadically followed this with a facial, because, why not eh? Hair was next on the agenda as CLB had secretly booked me into a salon for a blow-dry which was awesome…for those who know me I have pretty flat, boring, dull hair so any excuse for volume and I lap it up.

Pampering was complete and it was my chance to surprise CLB, with a night at the Cranley Hotel in Kensington. This lovely boutique was just what we needed for a one-night stay; the room was a little on the petite side but nothing to complain about and the bathroom had everything you’d need for a short stay. A nice little touch (and a reason I prefer boutique hotels to chains) is that the hotel serves complimentary champagne and canapés every evening which was a lovely appetizer before heading to Christopher’s in Covent Garden for dinner. The food I remember to be outstanding and I even tried my first ever lobster dish, go me!

2016

Our first stop was Bob Bob Ricard in Soho, which I had been dying to go to for months and months and months. It was just a wonderful as I could have imagined; the decor, the food, the service, everything was perfection defined. Plus, who wouldn’t want a ‘press for champagne’ button at their disposal…

Again, I gifted CLB with a hotel stay, so post lunch we headed to The Lodge Hotel in Putney for a spot of getting ready accompanied by fizz, before then heading to the Brixton Academy to see Hurts in concert – what a fab treat!

Hotel I’d booked the Lazy Sunday rate which included breakfast which, as per usual, we took in the comfort of our own room 🙂 This deal also included late check out until 2 pm which was a bonus for lazy bones here. (Ha, I’ve just noticed the two men emoji…oops, that’s meant to be CLB and I!)

Duck and Waffle played host for brunch on the 14th so that was another dream restaurant ticked off the list, and it was as tasty as I’d always imagined! The views were second to none too…nothing beats a panoramic view of London Town.

As far as most of us find Valentine’s Day, just remember you don’t have to be romantic just once a year!
